CBD for pets is becoming a huge deal in the United States. Although the FDA has not approved of CBD or any of the products that contain it there are plenty of people around the globe that believe it has beneficial properties that induce relaxation and calmness. These two factors are widely sought after by millions of pet owners. But, is there a difference between CBD for humans and CBD for animals? Let’s take a closer look at this question.

What Is CBD?
CBD, short for cannabidiol, is the widely sought after cannabinoid that is found in the hemp plant. It is closely related to the cannabinoid THC that is found mostly in the marijuana plant. Both are phytocannabinoids, both are found in the hemp plant. The biggest difference between the two is that THC harbors the psychoactive trait that creates a “high” in the people – or animals – that ingest it. CBD is believed to carry a huge amount of wellness benefits that aid in chronic issues that affect millions of pets, and humans.
Is CBD For Pets Different?
The answer to this particular question all depends on the perspective of the asker. Typically, CBD is, as mentioned above, a compound that is present in the hemp plant. Once it gets extracted it can be stored in alcohol, or as an oil. There are different variants of CBD products such as full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, or CBD isolate. The differences are that full-spectrum has a small amount of THC present, broad-spectrum has no THC, but still has other cannabinoids, and isolate only has pure CBD present. The bottom line is that CBD is CBD. However, the way that it is produced as a product and labeled is a different issue. Dog treats with CBD in them are specifically for dogs. Yet, the CBD that is contained in them is no different than the CBD that is in a human CBD product.
Is CBD For Pets Safe?
Just like each person, each pet his its own characteristics. Some humans or animals will have a certain sensitivity towards CBD or any other supplement. Although millions of people and pets use CBD every day around the United States, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it is safe for all pets and humans. The best way to determine whether or not it is safe for your particular pet is to check with the veterinarian and see. Most likely if your pet is healthy it won’t be a problem. However, if there are health risks involved you should really double-check. If your pet is taking medications that could react to and interfere with CBD it could be dangerous and even deadly to mix them.
Does CBD Help With Discomfort?
Discomfort is an ambiguous word. In order to determine whether or not CBD will help you with any issue in particular the best way to find out is to try. Once you get the green light from your veterinarian or your doctor, by all means, give it a shot. It may work for you better than you could imagine. Millions of people around the whole world believe strongly in the power of CBD, so there may be something to that.
